Claire Blackwelder (she/her) is an actor, musician, educator, writer, and editor based in Brooklyn, New York. As an undergrad at USC, she sang with and served as Music Director for The SoCal VoCals, with whom she won the ICCA championships. She received her MFA from the Shakespeare Theatre Co. at GWU, where she taught classes on text, voice, and Shakespeare in translation upon graduating. She now privately coaches piano, voice, and heightened text, and serves as Copy Editor and Back of House Manager for Music Before 1800, New York's longest-running early-music concert series. An ardent lover of group singing, she is an inaugural member of the New York Vocal Collective, founded by Ben Bram. She is best known for donning purple lycra as the Purple Power Ranger for two seasons of Power Rangers on Netflix/Nickelodeon, but believes the real heroes are in the classroom. She firmly believes in the mission of A Cappella Academy, and is thrilled to join the staff.
