Tehillah Alphonso
Group Director
New-Jersey-born and Nebraska-raised, Tehillah Alphonso (she/her) is a Nigerian-American vocalist, music director, educator, and GRAMMY®-nominated arranger based in Los Angeles, California. She received her B.M. in Popular Music Performance from the University of Southern California, where she served as Business Manager and Music Director of five-time ICCA champions, the SoCal VoCals. In 2020, Tehillah was named Outstanding Graduate, becoming the first Black woman in the Popular Music Program to achieve this honor. Upon graduating, she quickly made a name for herself in the music industry, having sung on feature film scores (i.e. Encanto, NOPE, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Color Purple), on television series (Brooklyn 99, All American, Muppets Mayhem), and behind world-renowned artists (Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Björk, Chloe Bailey). She currently teaches at Pacifica Christian High School in Santa Monica, where she serves as Music Director for Wolf PACappella. Outside of music, Tehillah enjoys reading, writing, cuddling with her dog, Nala, and trying (but usually burning) new recipes. As a proud alumnus of A Cappella Academy (2014-2016), Tehillah is ecstatic to return as a music director to give back to the community that first instilled her love for music and became the catalyst of her professional career.
