Instructor / Co-director
Overview: A Cappella Academy, an elite summer program for vocalists ages 12-18, is seeking passionate, skilled instructors to support our students’ musical growth and overall experience. Instructors play a vital on-the-ground role in shaping the Academy’s collaborative, high-level, and supportive environment. This position is ideal for singers and educators who are excited to mentor young artists, work as part of a tight-knit faculty team, and contribute to both musical excellence and camper care.
Responsibilities:
Rehearsal Support:
Assist group directors during pre-preparation and throughout our ten day summer session.
Support the musical and logistical needs of assigned groups to ensure productive, positive rehearsal environments.
Instruction & Education:
Teach classes in your field(s) of expertise (e.g., vocal technique, arranging, choreography, performance, musicianship, songwriting, etc.).
Provide private instruction or small-group coaching as assigned.
Camper Care & Support:
Help ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for campers.
Address social or interpersonal issues as they arise, and communicate proactively with administrative staff to ensure concerns are handled promptly and appropriately.
Collaboration:
Work closely with group directors, instructors, and administrative staff to help camp run smoothly day-to-day.
Model professionalism, kindness, and leadership for campers at all times.
Qualifications:
Teaching & Musical Experience: Experience in vocal music, a cappella, music education, or a related field.
Youth-Focused Mindset: Comfortable working with students ages 12-18 and committed to their artistic and personal development.
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and campers, and to escalate concerns thoughtfully when needed.
Adaptability & Initiative: Able to think on your feet, balance multiple priorities, and contribute in a fast-paced camp environment.
Passion for A Cappella Academy: A genuine enthusiasm for the Academy’s mission, values, and commitment to community, inclusivity, and excellence.
Staff Dates: June 30 – July 14
Eligibility: US residents, 21 and older
Compensation:
Housing and meals provided, plus a stipend of $650 for the session.
Travel expenses covered for candidates outside of the Los Angeles area.
