FAQ
Do I need to be able to read music to audition for A Cappella Academy?
Definitely not! It doesn’t hurt of course, but as long as you are able to harmonize and learn parts by ear, you’re good!
I’m a beatboxer who isn’t the greatest singer. Can I still audition and is there a chance of me getting in?
Yes absolutely!
Will A Cappella Academy be expanding to other cities besides Los Angeles?
We would like to expand eventually, but currently we only operate in Los Angeles.
I live outside of the US, can I still apply?
Yes! We welcome international applicants. We have had applicants from 30+ countries around the world!
What happens if I’m admitted but can’t raise the money in time?
Most of our students are able to raise the money necessary to go to camp, often through donations from their family and friends, crowdfunding, etc. If you are admitted, we believe in you that you’ll be able to raise the funds! However, if you aren’t able to, we will allow you to drop out three months before camp starts.
How do I apply for and receive a scholarship?
The entire scholarship process happens after you have already been accepted, so don’t worry about it just yet. Everyone who needs it will get some amount of financial assistance from our fundraising efforts and generous donors. All scholarship applicants must also do their own fundraising (which can be used toward travel costs) using crowdfunding, concerts, and other creative ideas. For more information, please see our Scholarship Fund page.
Can I apply to be staff this year?
Unfortunately, we are not accepting staff applications at this time.

A Cappella Academy is an all-inclusive sleep-away experience. Tuition covers: room (bed and bath linens included); all meals and snacks; all educational costs; ground transportation to and from the airport; an off-site trip; camp T-shirt; custom water bottle. Tuition does not include travel to and from Los Angeles. You will have the option to pay tuition in intervals, as long as it is paid in full before camp begins.

Will parents be allowed to accompany their campers to camp?
Parents are welcome to pick up and drop off their children, and they are encouraged to attend the final showcase. However, parents are responsible for their own accommodations should they choose to stay in Los Angeles at any time during camp.

Applicants will be notified of audition results via email by Feb 1.
